Nealy is a graduate of Kennesaw State University; she graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Information Systems with Honors, Cum Laude. In addition, she graduated in May 2011 with a Master’s of Information Systems. Clearly, this is a young woman who was prepared to pave the way for her vision.
Nealy is no stranger to hard work, structure and organization. She comes from a military family where there was always stable and sound decision making when it came to career planning. As a youth, Nealy had expressed her interest in art and drawing, but in time she lost touch with that. Never losing her affinity for creating, this led her to pursue her interests in computers, graphic design and mastering the use of Adobe PhotoShop. She ventured into entrepreneurship because designing and creating had always been a craft of hers. However, wanting to take it a step further by monetizing herself as a brand, Nealy advanced in the direction of investing in herself by filing for an LLC.
A trait that stands out about Nealy is that she is an African American woman in the STEM (Science Technology Engineering Math) field. Only 26 percent of the competing work force is made up of women; and of that number, only three percent of this population in the STEM field is African American. One of Ashley Nealy’s goals is to bridge the gap between minority communities and women in the STEM field. Ashley is a self-proclaimed “IT Girl”, but also the go-to for any technical solution, connection or resource. This connoisseur trait is undoubtedly the reason behind the company’s name.
In 2013, Nealy launched her web design business Mindly Maven, LLC in hopes of helping other entrepreneurs bring their vision to fruition through her skills with web design. In addition to web design, Mindly Maven also provides services in graphic design, event planning and creative business solutions. One of the main focuses of this company is to customize solutions based on each individual or business-specific problem. The target audience for Mindly Maven services is young professionals seeking personal websites and individuals in political positions. Mindly Maven specializes in designing websites for up and coming electoral candidates.
When asked what mantra she lives by, Nealy quoted the late great poet Maya Angelou: “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Keeping this thought at the forefront, Nealy makes sure that all of her client interactions have a personal touch so that they feel she is just as invested in their business as they are. In Nealy’s words, the definition of success “… isn’t a set place; I think it changes the older you get.”
Nealy’s tenacity and pension for hard work puts her in a position to achieve her career goals. These goals include increasing financial support for staff expansion, so Mindly Maven can adequately support its growing clientele. Nealy would like to see the company expand so that her entrepreneurial success can continue to evolve and grow.
